About us:

Mission Statement: "To provide Professional level sports photography to youth sporting events. In essence, to be the 'Sports Illustrated' of youth sports....

In fact, we use the same professional level gear you'll find on the sidelines of NFL, NBA, NBL games. That way we have the frame rate to capture that split second of greatness, the clarity to provide that crystal clear 'cover shot' and the resolution for up to 24x36" poster prints of your superstar.

From the Photographer: My love for art & photography started over 25 years ago when I received my first SLR. This love quickly turned into a passion ( and if you ask my wife, she'd say an obsession )

With the birth of our 3 children, I had 3 of the greatest subjects in the world. As they grew, and started playing faster paced sports I, like many of you, tried to keep up with the action with the same camera equipment that I used for all our family snapshots. I was always a bit disappointed with the number of missed shots due to slow focus or frame rate. So in 2006, I bit the bullet, broke the piggy bank and 'geared up' with a pro DSLR system that, before then, I couldn't even afford to dream about.

This web site was started as a way to share my photography with as many of you as possible. No, they're not free, but very fair - especially when you consider what some leagues charge for the typical package of a team photo and static portrait of our players in front of a fake background. In my opinion, action shots capture our 'little heroes' in a split second of greatness that will fill a parent's heart with pride for years to come. My sincere hope is that you'll find an image in my galleries that moves you in the same way.

-Barry

Frequently Asked Questions:

Q: I can't find pictures of my event, where are they?

A: You'll find event pictures under the 'Galleries' Menu option. Events will be listed under the appropriate Sport Category, typically by date then team name or number.

If you still don't see them there it is possible I haven't posted them yet. I take hundreds of pictures in a typical game so it does take some time to index them to the site. No more than 24 hours, but typically they should be up by the night of the event. Check the 'News' section of this site where I'll typically post a note on what's new in the Galleries. If you're 'tech' savy you can grab an RSS feed of my news section that way you'll know as soon as something changes here without even needing to visit the site ( And yes, right after photography, I'm a big geek at heart)

If you made any special arrangements with me before the event you can use the keyword search function in the galleries to get right to your images.

Q: How long will it take to receive my prints?

A: Once you place your order, we do our final post processing work which optimally crops the picture for the sizes you select and sets the right color balance for the image. I do have a day job so this process may take longer if I receive your order during the week vs. the weekend but typically I strive to get them turned around in 48 hours. From that point we send them to our lab for printing. So typical time between placing your order and having your prints on your door step should be about 1 week.

Q: What kind printer do you use?

A: Currently we offer prints with regular finishes (glossy, matte and luster). These are printed on Fuji color Crystal Archive professional photographic paper using Fuji Frontier printers, processed through professional Fuji Hunt Chemicals. The archival quality of this process is 50+ years, before fading may occur.

Q: What if I'm not happy with my prints?

A: All our products come with a 30 day unconditional guarantee. If you are unhappy with a print, we'll either reprint it, or offer a full refund. The exception to this is on postage stamp prints.

Q: Do you do special engagements?

A: Since this is not my full time gig, I typically do not do special seatings. HOWEVER, take a look at my events Calendar and if you see that I'll be at your field before or after your game, I'm usually more than happy to come early or stay late, just drop me an Email letting me know what game / field and what kind of shots your looking for so I can bring the right gear. If done this way I don't have to make a special trip and charge a seating fee and you have no obligation and pay of for only the shots you're happy with.

On the other hand, I do take special requests, just drop me an email or get with me before a game ( I'm hard to miss, I'll be the Geek with the big white lens ) and just let me know a the jersey number of a player to focus on and I'll be sure to track them during the game and individually index those pictures so they are faster to find in the gallery.

A: Ahh, my favorite part. I'm a gagetfreak so I love talking gear.

Body 1: Canon 1DmkII - The cornerstone of my arsenal, Super-fast auto focus, focus tracking and a blistering frame rate. It still puts a smile on my face every time I press the shutter release and rattle off 20 frames in under 3 seconds.

Body 2: Canon 10D - the back up.

Lenses: Most all of my Lenses are Canon's 'L' Series. Canon says "these lenses use special optical technologies [such as] Ultra-low Dispersion UD glass, Super Low Dispersion glass, Fluorite elements, and Aspherical elements to truly push the optical envelope."

Watch the sidelines of any professional sporting event and you'll see a wall of these White lenses, usually Identified with the red stripe around the front of the lens. Why shouldn't our kids touchdowns, home runs, or goals be captured with anything less than the same equipment that shoots the pros?

Lens1: Canon 300mm F4L - the 'big boy'. A tack sharp prime used to reach out and get close on sports with large fields like tackle football.

Lens2: Canon 70-200 F4L - the 'work horse' and my main lens for shooting smaller field sports like U7 Soccer,T-ball, flag football etc.

Lens3: Canon 24-105 F4L - Versatile lens used on sideline and portrait shots.

Lens4: Canon 17-40 F4L - Wide Angle zoom used on Team portraits and some indoor work.

Lens5: Canon 50 F1.8 - Lightweight fast lens used for close up indoor work with low light.

Lens6: Canon 15 F2.8 fisheye - for creative work.
