All I could say after this game is ‘Wow’, this was one heck of a physical game, there’s going be a lot of sore young men Sunday morning. The glorious sounds of crunching, popping pads could be heard play after play from the sidelines. Unfortunately, for the Forces they came up short on points and were handed their first loss of the season by the Bears. Even though they were down on points, these young men never let up on their intensity and continued to make some excellent plays, including some monster sacks and an a interception (see video below).
Another thing that I really loved about this game is the level of CLASS exhibited by both these teams, as physical as this game got, once that whistle blew, they were helping each other up and patting each other on the back with real respect. Amazing to see someone who just got laid out with a big hit get up and tell the opponent ‘good hit’ – a real testament to the maturity of these young men and the principles their coaches and parents instilled in them. Excellent, excellent job guys.
Had a blast shooting the Highland High Volleyball team take on Basha. The last game was a real nail biter with each team trading points in a tied game. Here’s a couple seconds of Highland’s game winning point. Pictures should be posted soon.

This week the Vipers came out from Maricopa to try and put a sting on the Queen Creek Special Forces. And boy, was this a battle, both teams were very physical I’m sure you could hear the clashing of shoulder pads up in the stands. But a very risky play call right before halftime by the Vipers to go for it on 4th and 5 on their own 15 yard line didn’t pay off and gave the Special Forces excellent field position which they capitalized on. While the Vipers continued to score they couldn’t over come the deficit caused by this crucial play and so the Special Forces continue their winning streak and extend their record to 3-0.
For their second game of the season, Anthem Prep travels across town to meet up with a tough running team from Chandler Prep Academy. Hard fought plays from both teams throughout the game but in the end, Chandlers running game proved too hard to stop.
This week we head out to Apache Junction to for a late night battle between the AJ Muddawgs and the Special Forces. And battle is was, both teams wanted the win badly as evident by the level of intensity at the line of scrimmage. There were some real hard hits laid in this game from both teams, but once again, the Forces’ running game was unstoppable and put quite a few points on the scoreboard. While the Muddawgs played an aggressive game, the Forces’ defense was able to shutdown almost any drive the dawgs would mount, keeping them from finding the end zone for most of the game. So for a second week in a row, the Forces put another one in the ‘W’ column.
The Junior High STYFL Special Forces open the season against the Anthem Wolfpack. The Forces were the first to put the points on the board and really appeared to dominate the first half with a running game that was just amazing to watch. The Forces’ defense was equally as tough, forcing 3 turnovers – and keeping the Wolfpack from mounting any sort of momentum until the second half. Where in the 4th quarter, it looked as though the ‘Pack found some weaknesses and really started to move the ball with several big pass receptions that got them in the end zone. They followed that up with some strong defensive play that showed they were there to win. But Ultimately, the Forces’ running game was just too ferocious to be answered by the ‘Pack.
After dominating the season last year, the Gilbert Christian Knights come into the 2010 Fall season with only one returning player. Their season opener was against a relatively new school, Anthem Prep, who made the trek out to the East Valley to put their skills to the test. Physically, the boys looked equally matched and played through their first game jitters to put on one great game of football. In the end, Gilbert Christian’s sidelines would be the ones cheering in victory.
