DRHS Back Juking past Basha Defense

Basha Freshmen travel cross town this week to face the Desert Ridge Jaguars. While the game started out looking good for the Bears who put up the first points with a field goal in their opening drive, the Jaguars’ running game proved unstoppable. The Jaguars’ defensive line was impressive as well keeping the pressure on the Bears’ QB and keeping them scoreless for the remainder of the 1st half. Things got better for the Bears in the 2nd half but it was too little too late and the Bears left the field with a 27-10 loss.

Chandler Prep JHS Football hosted Glendale Prep this week but didn’t have enough ‘D’ to stop the run in a 22-0 loss. Impressive running by several GPA running backs as well as a one man train in their QB who needed a CPA swarm to get him down every time he carried the ball.

The second game by the ‘Youngers’ was equally impressive but this time all the scoring went to CPA Titans who seem to have the whole package in an awesome display of offense as well as putting the brakes on GPA’s ability to score.

Basha Freshmen hosted the Perry High School Pumas this Saturday. Unfortunately for the Bears, it was a bit of a one-sided game – Puma’s defense kept the Bears off the scoreboard while their offense was very productive.  This shut out is sure to fire up Basha for the upcoming regular season re-match with Perry on October 12th. – as always click through the picture to see the rest of the gallery.

Basha Freshmen get back on track this week with an on the road win over the Hawks of Highland High School. Once again special teams and defense were really spectacular, taking the opening kick off ‘to the house’ for the first points of the game and following that up with a pick six later in the first quarter. While the Hawks started to rally in the second half, Basha maintained their lead to finish the game 14-28.

Basha Freshmen travel to Desert Vista for the first of the Saturday Series games – and DV was ready for them – Putting the first point on the board, Desert Vista’s offense moved the ball well and their defense never allowed Basha’s offense into the end zone.

Basha Freshmen hosted the Chandler Wolves this week. Unfortunately for the Bears, the sting of their first loss of the season was made a bit worse coming to them in front of their home crowd.  The Wolves offense was impressive moving the ball efficiently in the first half. And even as the Bear’s Defense tightened up, the Wolves’ defense answered, forcing eight turnovers, ensuring their lead would remain unchallenged.

What a way to open up the Football season – Basha Freshmen go on the road and bring back a victory from the Aztecs of Corona del Sol. Basha’s defense was on fire, causing constant disruption in the back field and forcing several turnovers which kept the Aztecs off the score board until late in the 3rd quarter. Basha’s offense wasn’t exactly sleeping while all this was going on either – both the running game and the aerial attacks were working this night to put the final score at 41-6.

Putting the wraps on this year’s Team and Individual portraits and they’re really looking good. Should have them delivered in the next couple of weeks.
