It’s time for Soccer! We start off this season with Basha’s home opener against Hamilton High School. Fought under the chill of the Fall night air, it was a well played game but just a bit better played by Hamilton than Basha…
#31 Zach Reed dives into the end zone
Another great week of football as the Basha Freshmen hosted the Gilbert Tigers.
Basha Freshmen get back on track this week with an on the road win over the Hawks of Highland High School. Once again special teams and defense were really spectacular, taking the opening kick off ‘to the house’ for the first points of the game and following that up with a pick six later in the first quarter. While the Hawks started to rally in the second half, Basha maintained their lead to finish the game 14-28.

Basha Freshmen travel to Desert Vista for the first of the Saturday Series games – and DV was ready for them – Putting the first point on the board, Desert Vista’s offense moved the ball well and their defense never allowed Basha’s offense into the end zone.
Basha Freshmen hosted the Chandler Wolves this week. Unfortunately for the Bears, the sting of their first loss of the season was made a bit worse coming to them in front of their home crowd. The Wolves offense was impressive moving the ball efficiently in the first half. And even as the Bear’s Defense tightened up, the Wolves’ defense answered, forcing eight turnovers, ensuring their lead would remain unchallenged.
Basha Freshmen bring home another win on the road this week. Despite losing the quarterback that lead them to a 41-6 victory last week to the Junior Varsity squad, Basha still managed a 27-0 shutout against St. Mary’s this time with Travis Long taking the snap.

After getting knocked out in last years playoffs, the Basha Bears were back in the hunt for another State Championship this year… its 3rd time in the last 4 seasons. Although the Bears got off to an early lead of 3-0, the lions made a tremendous comeback to take the lead in the 4th and was able to hold Basha to just one more run ending the game at 5-4 for Red Mountains 2nd championship title two years running. With the Lions 2010/2011 back to back titles coupled with the Bears own in 2008/2009 not to mention a State Runner-up for each, what we have here folks is truly a high school Dynasty with every 5A-I school looking to knock them out. Knowing that Basha will have 5 returning players as seniors next season and a bunch of (now) seasoned Frosh and Soph’s, uhm… yeah.
Anyhow, thanks for yet another exciting Championship game ladies and congratulations to both teams for well earned titles.
