Gladiators vs. Spartans

November 23rd, 2008

This was the game I’ve been waiting for all season, the Gladiators were matched up against the Spartans pretty equally and had similar records coming into the game, of course only one team would leave the field improving that record.
The Spartans drew first blood after their defense put a stop to the Gladiators first drive, they put on an ariel attack that got them into the end zone. The Spartans held onto their lead into the 2nd half, but the Gladiators got their running game going and got into the end zone twice but missing both the extra points, the Spartans would only need a touch down to get the win. Late in the 4th quarter the Spartans mounted their attack moving the ball down field, but a spectacular interception by the Gladiators put an end to the drive, and the game. And thus the Gladiators left the field victorious, but both teams kids played their hearts out and it was an excellent game to end the season on.

That’s about the only way to describe this game – HOLY COW was this a physical game. I could hear the sweet sound of shoulder pads ‘popping’ from the side lines. It’s always hard to take pictures when the games are this good.
The Pitbulls definately had some big boys on their side blowing up the line and laying out a couple of the Spartans. But the Spartans weren’t going to take it laying on their backs and stepped up the physical element of the game and put some major heart and effort into finding that End Zone. And find it they did, several times in fact to allow them to move their record to 5 – 1.

Like I said before, What a game. There were some excellent athletes and well executed plays by both teams. Big hits, great runs, spectacular catches – it was one of the more entertaining games I’ve shot in a long time and the pictures show it. It’s unfortunate that in games played this hard someone has to loose but the Spartan’s came out on top of this one to put their record at 4 – 1. Again excellent game boys!

Spartans vs. Knights

Week 4 of the season and the Spartans square off against the Knights in a very physical football game. There were some big hits by both teams. The first half was dominated by the Knights, whose unconventional offensive set, where their running backs line up shoulder to shoulder with the quarterback and all pose to take the snap, really threw the Spartan’s defense. By the time the Spartans adjusted and started to contain, there were just too many points on the Knights side of the board. A truly excellent battle though.

Wildcats vs Spartans

Week 3 finds the Wildcats meeting the Spartans on the field, and once again the Spartans Defense was on fire, keeping the Wildcats out of the endzone.  The Wildcats’ defense also did a good job up front, pluging up any holes and shutting down any hope of running the ball up the middle. But you can only stop what you can catch and that’s where the Spartan’s speed was able to get around to the outside and take 2 to the ‘house’ for win.   Great Game guys.

Running for Glory

No computer problems for me this week. And no problems for the Spartans either as they head toward week 3 with a 2-0 record. It was no easy feat either as the Cobras put a mighty fight fielding a lot of talent. In fact, it was the Spartan’s defense that ultimately decided the victory with a pick and a take away both run back for a TD. As always click to the picture to head to the galleries and for the first time Spartan parents, using  the Home Team Galleries gets you special pricing.
